1st Polish-Italian Conference on Chemistry, Materials and Biomedicine (CMB)

The 1st Polish-Italian Conference on Chemistry, Materials and Biomedicine (CMB) took place in Rome on September 18–19.
















During the conference, an honorary session was held in honor of Prof. Henryk Kozłowski, PhD, DSc, on the occasion of his 80th anniversary. The professor received an Oscar in the Best Mentor category for lowering energy barriers and catalyzing scientific careers.

The award citation emphasized: "Your mentoring is the best chain reaction we know." Professor Kozłowski supervised a total of 37 doctoral students. One of the conference organizers was Dr. Danuta Witkowska, a professor at the University of Opole, who presented the results of the PurHumDrome project to date in a presentation entitled "Development of Novel Peptide-Mimetic Compounds as Potential Anticancer Agents: a Collaborative Polish-Italian-Armenian Study." Joanna Słowik, M.A., also spoke at the conference, presenting a paper entitled "Mercury Levels in Biological Samples of Women with and Without Breast Cancer: Correlation and Risk Assessment." The conference was organized with the support of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Rome.
