Pelvic Floor Muscles – How Do We Implement Research Results?

Since 2016, the Physioprophylaxis Research Team of the Institute of Health Sciences of the University of Opole has been conducting in-depth interdisciplinary scientific research on conservative treatment and prevention of pelvic floor muscle dysfunction in women. The research focused on the development and validation of innovative diagnostic models and therapeutic algorithms enabling early detection and effective treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction in women from risk groups (including after childbirth, those practicing strength sports, patients with urogynecological and sexual disorders) and in the prevention of the above-mentioned dysfunctions.

The research – from 2022 – under the supervision of Dr. Martyna Kasper – Jędrzejewska has enabled the implementation of a new approach to the diagnosis and therapy of pelvic floor disorders, and one of the examples of practical use of the research results is the launch in Opole in 2025 of a municipal urogynecological prevention program for women after childbirth, including updated diagnostic, therapeutic and educational standards.

Doctor Martyna recently discussed the program’s assumptions in the Radio Opole broadcast: Pelvic floor muscles – how to take care of them?
